Richard Carey | Freshman | Biology Major

"I think there's some semblance of awareness; but, many people don't think that this issue is prominent in our society. I think there should be more awareness because human trafficking is an issue that affects the entire world."

Megan McCoy | Junior | Nursing Major

"The statistics about the prevalence of this issue are overwhelming, and I think that these numbers can cause some people to respond by disengaging. I believe that it's important to listen to the stories of individuals who have personally been affecred by human trafficking to remember that people -- just like those we know and love -- have been affected by human trafficking."

HOW WILL YOU END IT?

Let's ask some Dukes.

Jess Condon | Junior | Communications Major

"We need to start using our voices to advocate. Through word of mouth and conversations, we can encourage change. Each of us can add to the movement to end human trafficking."

Janie Jacobs | Junior | Communications Sciences and Disorders Major

"We have to stop reading statistics and start changing them. It's time to stop simply researching these problems, and start asking ourselves what we can do to change them."

Celina Relton | Sophomore | International Relations Major

"Trafficking ends when we stop giving excuses and start being aware of the atrocities found in our society. Citizens who are trained to notice the signs of trafficking can start the movement to end trafficking by helping the victim or alterting the police about the pimp. Being active citizens by always being aware of your surroundings might not be a big step, but if we stand as a community, we can end trafficking."

Corinne Pyne | Junior | Communication Sciences and Disorders Major

"We should end human trafficking because everyone has a voice and a unique sense of self that should never be tarnished. Everyone should have the freedom to express themselves and live the life they've always imagined."

Michael Jacob (MJ) | Senior | Computer Information Systems Major

"The key to ending human trafficking is education. By raising awareness and educating those around us, we can work together to spot signs of human trafficking and fight the issue as a whole."

Kylie Spandra | Junior | Nursing Major

"We need to be the voice for people who are unable to fight. We need to advocate for human trafficking so that one day it's extinct."
